Dog Photoshoot at Johnston Mill Nature Preserve - Chapel Hill, North Carolina

There’s something extra special about photographing my own pups—Crosby, my cattle dog–beagle mix, and Indy, my chihuahua–pit bull mix. We recently had a photoshoot at Johnston Mill Nature Preserve, one of my favorite Triangle Land Conservancy spots. The preserve is a beautiful conservation space, and while dogs are welcome, they must stay on leash.

That didn’t stop us from getting clean, natural images—thanks to some editing magic, I removed the leashes so Crosby and Indy could really shine. To bring out the best in the photos, I also deepened the vibrance of the background while brightening the dogs to make sure they stood out against the lush scenery.

This session reminded me how much I love capturing the unique personalities of dogs—whether it’s your energetic hiking buddy, your couch snuggler, or anything in between.

If you’re looking to book a dog photoshoot in the Raleigh or Research Triangle Park area, I’d love to help you create timeless memories of your four-legged family members.
