Surprise Proposal - A Shoot to Remember
When my client reached out to me about photographing his surprise proposal at Raven Rock State Park, I jumped at the chance. His plan was perfect - just an every day hike with their dogs and a casual offer to have their photo taken - I was thrilled to be part of their special day. I got to the spot before them and asked if they wanted a picture together. First on their phone then on my camera - and I would “send it to them later.” As you can tell - she said yes! Senior Portraits at West Point on the Eno River, Durham NC
Preparing for your senior portraits should be a fun and exciting time. We chose West Point on the Eno River, Durham North Carolina, knowing the multiple mills and bridge would give a gorgeous backdrop in late February when the leaves have yet to bud. Kacy came prepared in a white top and stylish blue jeans, which fit in beautifully with the natural and rustic setting. This girl is a vibe and I really feel that shows through in the photos. If you’re like me, you want more from this shoot. Luckily Kacy has booked the Combination Collection, which means we will be doing her in studio shoot at my Raleigh photography studio in the upcoming weeks. Keep an eye out for those photos!

On Location Shoot in December ?!
I had a winter shoot at Annie Wilkerson Nature Preserve in Raleigh, North Carolina. Winter light light is less harsh and more diffused compared to other seasons. My dog Crosby was the perfect model as I scouted the location before the shoot. There is something so special about winter light. I can’t get enough of it! Evergreen Photography Gives Back
For this Giving Tuesday, I wanted to give back to a local North Carolina charity as well as a global charity. First, I donated to the Triangle Land Conservancy, which has some of my favorite nature preserves, such as Horton Grove in Durham and Johnston Mill in Chapel Hill. Next up, another deserving charity, The Peregrine Fund. The Peregrine Fund supports global birds of prey research & conservation.

Date Night meets Studio Shoot

Bald Eagles & Osprey along the Cape Fear River
The North Carolina birding world learned some very exciting news this past week - a Brown Booby was seen along the Cape Fear River. I went out in search for this amazing bird and while I never found it, I was able to witness another amazing sight on the Cape Fear River - a bald eagle chasing an osprey to steal it’s fish!
