Picture-Perfect: From Azaleas to Person Street Bar

I recently had the pleasure of photographing an engagement session that beautifully blended nature’s charm with a personal piece of the couple’s story. We started at the WRAL Azalea Gardens—a quiet gem in Raleigh that was alive with flower blooms, birds chirping, and felt just a degree below too hot to be outside. The greenery and vibrant flowers offered the perfect backdrop for dancing barefoot, practicing the “almost kiss” for the big day, and a lot of laughter.

After the garden, we made our way downtown to Person Street Bar—a Raleigh spot special to my clients. Capturing their joy in such a meaningful space made this shoot one to remember. The bar backdrop and their comfort in that space made for authentic, relaxed images that told their story perfectly.

Combining a natural setting with a personal landmark created a session that was not just beautiful, but meaningful, memorable, and most importantly—so much fun. If you're planning an engagement shoot, think about including a location that’s part of your story—it adds a special layer to your photos that you’ll always treasure.
