Hello all! It’s Shannon your Cary portrait AND nature photographer.
Today’s post is all about wildlife, nature, and the beautiful opportunities I’ve had to be outside this fall. Be sure to make it to the end of the post to see my favorite shot in quite some time!
First up was this beautiful Northern Parula!
I was able to capture this perfect little warbler at the Haw River, where I was volunteering for a native pollinator garden workday!
At the same time, I captured a few Yellow-Rumped Warblers!
This is one of those birds that is named so perfectly for their appearance!
Check out that yellow rump!
This Male Eastern Towhee was a star against the fall foliage.
This shot was from a November visit to Mason Farm Biological Reserve in Chapel Hill, NC.
Field Sparrows are currently listed as a yellow alert tipping point, meaning they’ve lost 50% of their range in the past 50 years. Knowing this, I was beyond happy to find these two among the many song and white-throated sparrows!
Speaking of Song Sparrows - This one was kind enough to come so close for a photo!
I am absolutely thrilled to share the above photo of a Yellow-Billed Cuckoo seen at White Oak Creek Greenway, Cary, North Carolina.
This photo would make an absolutely beautiful photo for any home - personally, I would go with a black frame and a white matting. Curious to see what that would look like, please reach out for a preview and pricing!
You can also find many of these photos on my Shootproof gallery.
100% of profits from my nature photography throughout the rest of 2026 will be donated to https://savesibleyprairie.org/
25% of my portrait shoots will also be donated!
I’m proud to contribute to saving a keystone prairie and hope that you’ll help me!
Happy Fall and get outside this week!
Shannon
